Deadlifts are a great exercise for your lower back. Usually we do a deadlift with a barbell and hold it with both hands. However, doing it with a single arm forces you to balance yourself and engage some more muscles. Here's what you do. Pick up a dumbbell which is not VERY heavy, something like 50 - 60% of maximum lift would do.
Go down as shown below with your back straight and knees slightly bent. You need to stop before your upper body is parallel to the floor
In one swift movement come back up squeezing your back and butt. Switch hands after every rep.
